Happy Holidays!?!

There is a reason for everything under the sun. Purpose is the reason or original intent for the existence of a thing. Unfortunately a lot of times we don’t know the purpose of a thing, and when purpose is not known abuse becomes inevitable.

There is a reason for every season and every holiday.  For example, July 4th holiday is to celebrate American Independence, MLK day is to celebrate the life and achievements of MLK, Thanksgiving holiday is to give thanks to God for whatever we are thankful for…etc. As a casual observer, I’ve realized that during the Christmas season some people say “happy holidays.” Interesting! So then I ask the question, is there a reason for that season and holiday? Shouldn’t it be celebrated and given its due reference like all the other holidays?

There’s a purpose for everything, hence if we do not understand the reason behind this particular holiday we will abuse and not appreciate it. Take creation for example, God had a plan uniquely designed for you; therefore the creation of everything including man had purpose and intent behind it. So then, Ignorance of purpose does not cancel purpose. Even maggots, as insignificant as they may be, are the same ones that break down matter into dirt again.

The reason for this season and holiday is Christ.  He was born for a REASON, He died for a REASON and He lives for a REASON. Jesus was born to RELATE to us, He died to REDEEM us and He lives to REPRESENT us.

So this coming holiday if you are presented the opportunity and someone wishes you “Happy Holidays” cheerfully respond “Merry Christmas” because it’s not just a holiday, there is a purpose and a reason for this season.

Whether in the diadems of happiness or in the pits of depression, wherever you find yourself this season take a moment to give thanks to God for Jesus.

This season is a festive occasion and a time of rejoicing. This is the time when we celebrate the greatest gift ever given to humanity. We have to thank God for Jesus. Please do not ignore the reason for this season. And once you realize the reason for the season, then I encourage you to respond appropriately with thanksgiving. God takes notice of a grateful heart.

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I’ll leave you for now. If we don’t meet again, I hope to see you at the dinner table in Papa’s house.
